What is different about Integrative and Functional Nutrition? This approach to nutrition and health focuses on a more patient-centered approach addressing the WHOLE person vs. the traditional disease-centered model that just addresses an isolated set of symptoms. I spend more time with my patients, listening to “your story” and using in-depth labs to uncover the root causes of system imbalances (hint: digestion is a system) that might influence your biology, genetics, nutritional status and well-being. Integrative and functional nutrition uses a research and practice- based approach to the nutrition care process. It’s not just about food, it’s also about lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health or chronic disease. In this way, Functional Nutrition supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.
